On September 25, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan met with the Vice President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer within the framework of the official visit to Switzerland.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, the RA NA President touched upon the Armenian-Swiss inter-state relations, noting that the since the establishment of diplomatic relations they had obtained more active dynamics of development during the last decade. In this context the Head of the RA legislative body underlined with satisfaction the close cooperation of the two countries also at inter-parliamentary level, highlighted the contribution of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups in the development of bilateral ties.

According to the RA NA President, the format of the Armenian-Swiss cooperation is rather wide: trade-economic ties, the effective cooperation being implemented within the framework of the support programmes, projects of strengthening the professional skills and educational programmes and a legal-contractual field including more than dozens of legal documents.

Talking about the regional integration processes, the Head of the RA legislative body noted that Armenia could become a bridge netween the European and Eurasian markets and be attractive for the Swiss investors interested in the possibility of having entry without duty tax to the Eurasian large market.

As a propagator of strengthening and development of friendly relations between Armenia and Switzerland, the President of the RA National Assembly assured that from now on efforts would be made in the rapprochement and expansion of bilateral cooperation.

The Vice President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer has noted that the friendship of the two countries and peoples is laid on firm bases.

In the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the activities of Switzerland-Armenia Chamber of Commerce, the enlivening of the bilateral economic relations, issues on tourism, culture and expansion of cooperation in a number of other spheres. Ara Babloyan particularly talked about the importance of direct flight between the cities of Armenia and Switzerland.

At the end of the meeting the sides expressed readiness of deepening the existing favourable cooperation.
